Instagram has been rolling out a lot of changes recently with the goal of taking the App back to what it was always supposed to be: a platform that creates community and authentic interaction.
As part of these changes, Instagram has shut down various third-party Apps and is "punishing" users who implement tools and strategies that are against their API's. One form of this punishment is the so-called "shadowban" which basically prohibits your posts from appearing in your hashtags, making them invisible to anyone who isn't already following you.
A shadowban, also known as a ghost ban, is not really a new phenomenon in the social media world, it is implemented across various social media platforms, including Twitter and Reddit, as a way to basically limiting and suppressing spammers or users who abuse the sites' rules.
The Instagram shadowban is something that's been affecting a lot of users recently, but what exactly causes it and how can you avoid it?
I wanted to create this video fo you and explain what exactly the Instagram shadowban is, how it affects your engagement, and what you can do keep your account safe. Watch it here:
Apart from the tips mentioned in the video I also recommend reporting the issue to Instagram and switching to the personal profile if your account is a business account. Wait a while and then switch back to the business profile.
Have you been affected by the shadowban? What did you do to get rid of it? Let me know in the comments below!
